Golden Era Glow: The 1982–85 Barcelona Away Jersey

Few kits capture the spirit of a football era quite like the 1982–1985 FC Barcelona yellow away shirt by Meyba. Drenched in rich canary yellow, this legendary strip isn't just a piece of fabric — it's a bold expression of Catalan identity, club heritage, and the golden age of football royalty.

Crafted in shimmering polyester, the jersey featured Meyba’s loose “track-style” fit — complete with a fold-over collar and V-insert neckline. A vibrant red-and-blue vertical stripe sliced down the left chest, echoing Barça’s classic colors while subtly nodding to the Catalan flag, the senyera.

What set this design apart was its fearless detailing: red-trimmed sleeves with Meyba’s signature blue triangle tape, stitched “M” branding, and a sponsor-free, full-color club crest. Airy mesh panels under the arms made it ahead of its time in function, too.

The shirt was first worn in Diego Maradona’s debut season at Camp Nou (1982–83), helping secure the Copa del Rey and the first-ever Copa de la Liga, both against rivals Real Madrid. Maradona dazzled in yellow, netting 23 goals that season.

The following year, despite injury setbacks, stars like Bernd Schuster and Marcos Alonso powered the team to a Supercopa de España win and deep cup runs. By 1984–85, the jersey had become iconic — worn during a La Liga-winning season under Terry Venables, with Steve Archibald leading the scoring and Schuster orchestrating midfield dominance.

Though production ended in 1985, this jersey remains a historic fan favorite — the only Barça away kit ever worn by both Maradona and a title-winning team. Its influence can still be felt in modern senyera-inspired designs.
